What is the Number one thing that is stopping you form doing something creative right now???
Money? Time? The fear that it won't be good enough? The thought that you should be using that time more wisely? On more important and useful things?
They're all excuses and not very good ones.
Make Your hands dirty - just do it, you won't regret it, it'll help connect you with your inner child who longs to finger paint again, and your inner artist who is just too damn afraid to express themselves just in case someone criticizes their attempts.
Just Do it...
Just Do it...
Switch yourself off
Yesterday I switched off from the electronic world and switched on to the real world. I'll let you in on a secret - I'm a bit of a social media junkie, I've gotta check Facebook 30 times a day to see if some witty remark I've made gets 'liked' or commented on. I have to check my Etsy Shop every hour to see it anyone's looked at it recently or had any sales, and stay in 'touch' with the world out there. And there's PInterest, Instagram, etc. (luckily, I've never dabbled with Twitter) I spend so much of my time looking at what others are doing in their lives, and their achievements, that I don't have time to create something of my own to show off to others. (silly isn't it?) Read More... |

Be crazy, be silly...
Don't be anything other than yourself. Even (especially) if the world expects you to be something other than what's really inside you. You've only got one shot at life so why be someone other than yourself. And you've got to enjoy the ride along the way :) Creative Thought of the Day:
Trying to get a small (read: microscopic) business up off the ground is hard work. A LOT of hard work. And the learning curve is huge and sometimes incredibly steep.Every step no matter how small is a step towards the larger goal. Lately, I haven't made any money but I've been doing lots of behind the scenes stuff and learning lots. I've also given myself some down time as I was getting rather burned out around December and January. That was another lesson learned. Don't be afraid to be different.
Embrace your uniqueness, it will lead you down your own special path. It's your path to walk, no one else's. You're not expected to walk other people's paths, and they're not expected to walk yours. So, ignore the caterpillars in your life. You're a butterfly with beautiful gossamer wings that will take you to the most amazing places and enable you to do incredible things. They're just jealous of you... One of my favourite childhood movies has been made into a musical in London (can't wait for it to come to Aus), and this song has been going around in my head for days. What lovely lyrics:
If you want to view Paradise, simply look around and view it.... If you want to change the world, there's nothing to it. You make your own world, Paradise is right in front of you, all you have to do is open your eyes and truly see it. What do you think of this statement?
Have you seen some artwork that disturbs you? Have you seen something that you find comforting? Which do you prefer? What do you like Art to be for you? Here's some disturbing art through history: |
